Fireflies
Fireflies,
abundant yet something i have yet to see.
But, is it something abundant in humans?
It is as rare as fireflies being seen out in the daylight.
The truth is, I have seen fireflies, I have felt it,
not in a way humans would imagine.
There is a firefly in my life.
Bright and energetic,
one that brings light to my dark sky.
It caresses me and is playful with me.
It fears and repels from another,
but with me,
it hugs me closely,
a little tighter than others would.
It lights me although it is running out of light.
With me,
it forgets its sorrow and makes me forget mine.
It is gentle with me,
mesmerising with every touch.
Can a heart really be touched without ever being touched?
Cause, it touches mine and soothes it even when I abuse its gentleness.
Its buzz,
a honey glistening sound to my ears,
the sound of a baby's laugh,
an absolute blessing.
It wraps itself around me covering my flaws from the world,
making me as bright as it is.
He is a firefly to me,
the one that lits up my face as my eyes sparkle from its beauty,
the one i die to see with my naked eye.
